He delights in mercy

Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. - Jonah 1:2

The wickedness of Nineveh city came up before God. So God sent Jonah to warn the people about God’s judgment upon the people of Nineveh. So Jonah arose, and went into Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.(Jonah 3:3-4) Even though people of Nineveh were wicket, when they heard about the judgment of God they humbled themselves before God and repented and turned towards God. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.(Jonah 3:5-10) Beloved, the things happened to Nineveh gives us the clear picture of God’s mercy upon us. No matter what evil a wicked man does, when he repents and turns towards God, Lord forgives him and shows his mercy upon him. From the king to normal man of Nineveh humbled themselves and repented, they received God’s grace. Nineveh escaped from God’s punishment. These days we are depending on those, who do not know God. But, in our life, we have to repent for the things that are not pleased in the sight of God. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.(2Chro 7:14) You are expecting so many changes in your life. But you are not able to see the changes. Jonah said that Nineveh will be destroyed. When people depend on God, things change. Search your life today and find out all the wicked ways that are not pleased in the sight of God and repent. As things changed in Nineveh, you will also see changes in your life. Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. ( Micah 7:18)

Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live. - Ezekiel 18:19
